Kevin Montroy

Founder & Visionary

Kevin Montroy is the Founder and Strategic Visionary at The Memorial Collective. With more than 30 years of experience in the funeral profession, he is recognized as an innovative leader who has shaped some of the industry’s most groundbreaking platforms and alliances. Kevin specializes in building growth strategies that unite partners, strengthen communities, and expand possibilities for funeral service. His leadership is defined by integrity and vision, creating space for others to rise while guiding the profession toward a more connected and compassionate future.

About

Kevin served as a licensed funeral director for over 40 years, managing his own funeral home for 21 of those years. His dedication to supporting families and the community led him to participate in numerous boards and charitable organizations. Notably, he was a past President of his local Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. His community involvement included two terms in local politics, serving as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and holding positions on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Kingston and District Funeral Service Association.

In 1994, Kevin envisioned the potential impact of the internet and anticipated an increase in cremation rates. This foresight prompted him to focus on developing technology and innovations to adapt to the evolving profession, leading to the creation of FrontRunner Professional. By 1998, Kevin earned recognition from the Vice President of Saatchi & Saatchi as one of the most perceptive individuals in understanding consumer needs.

Over the years, he amassed an impressive portfolio of Funeral Home clients, steering FrontRunner to be a leader in technology and innovations, culminating in the NFDA Innovation of the Year award in 2015. In 2018, he collaborated with shareholders to negotiate a successful exit strategy, selling to Tribute Technology, with hopes of ensuring FrontRunner continued leadership in the industry.

After a brief retirement, Kevin felt disheartened by the impact of immediate cremation and low-cost providers on the profession, which he believed were damaging the funeral service narrative and affecting families negatively.

Determined to make a difference, Kevin returned to the industry with a renewed vision and innovative strategies aimed at restoring trust in funeral services. He remains deeply passionate about helping families in need, pledging never to let anyone say, “I didn’t know we could do that” or “I wish that had been available when my son died.”

Kevin plans to collaborate with progressive, forward-thinking vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to rekindle the significance of funeral service and the art of remembrance.
